Palmyrene Empire

In my own TL (See signature), Palmyra holds out for another half century, if interested, feel free to comment... Oh btw, it becomes labelled as the Tadmurite Empire inj the meantime in my TL.

These are the only links I can see thus far with any mention of the Palmyrene Empire. My best guess would be that it is one of the few subjects that is not discussed much. To be honest, I'll have to do some reading myself on the subject.

Much thanks both of you.:D

I had an idea for a TL way back when and the conclusion I came to was that Palmyra could have lasted a long time on its own; it held off the Persians and so long as none of the other pretenders take a shot at it and even then it depends on who's trying to take back the East.

So long as you keep the power blocs in Europe divided and on their toes dealing with incursions and each other the Palmyrene Empire can last indefinitely and the longer it lasts the less likely someone can muster up the muscle to take it back as quickly as it did OTL.

Zenobia, their greatest ruler, was a Jew. Is it possible she and her continued successors could have shaped Christianity in a different direction? She was, if I remember correct, what we would consider today a "Jew for Jesus" or "Messianic Jew" in that she had some Christian leanings and beliefs in Jesus. Of course the empire was polyglot with lots of local gods and goddess, Jews, and Christians. If so much of the Eastern Empire was not so forcibly converted to Christianity and large numbers of Eastern Orthodox members don't exist, is there enough Christians in the East to make a schism with Roman Catholicism in 1054?
