Pagan Europe, Christian Asia

I'm new to the website.
In this timeline Christianity fails to become the major religion of the Roman Empire and is replaced by the worship of Sol Invictus. However Christianity does continue to survive and thrive in its traditional secular groups and even spreads outside of Europe and evetually becomes the dominant religions of Persia and the Arabian Kingdoms.
The roman Empire does eventually collapse from internal problems and external invasions but a larger portion of it remains united. Europe is divided between the Sol Invictus worshippers and Wodenists.
The Arabs do build an Empire and conquer North Africa but leave Persia alone until a schism develops between the two nations churchs.

What happens next?

One wonders if Christianity will spread into central Asia and the Turkish lands the way Islam did OTL...

It does enter there and may become a major religion but i don't yet have the details thought out yet thoroughly in that case. Buddhism may replace it.
Most of my notes are focused on Europe at the moment.

like I said I'm new at this.

By the way Bruce big fan of your deviantart work.

Christianity spread into Persia and further east IOTL. When Christianity became the preferred religion in Rome, the Sassanids steps to prevent Rome from influencing Persian lands through Christianity. If Rome never becomes officially Christian, Christianity will probably continue its spread in the East. I doubt it will eclipse Zoroastrianism in Persia without political support.

It also spread into Arabia, especially among the Ghassanids and Lakhmids.

Is the rump Roman Empire centered in Italy or in Constantinople? If it's in the east, I imagine they hold onto western Anatolia, which in turn may influence which way the Russians go religiously.

Well the concept is that they become the major religions. Without Roman Christianity it becomes Persia's main religion. It doesn't replace Zoroastrianism amongst most persians but they are now the majority. Islam doesn't come into existence in this timeline (blame butterflies) so that's why Christianity becomes Arabia's major religion.

Rump Rome is centered in Athens.

Even with Rome Nestorian Christianity would have eventually overtaken Zoroastrianism- at least in the western Provinces. Unless you have some sort of societal reform like Mazdakism which would turn Zoroastrianism into more of a sign of status you can make it survive. Otherwise the Nestorians will dominate the Zoroastrians except in the area of Fars and the east where the Zunbils roam. As for Arabia, there was considerably more influence of Judaism there- Yemen spawned a Judeo-Arabic kingdom before its destruction by Aksum and the tribes that Muhammad allied with in Medina initially were Jews. They had considerable clout within Pre-Islamic Arabia.

Notice:
This will initially focus on Europe/West Asia initially. However things will go on in East Asia and the New World.

Notice: A look at Europe religiously.
Europe by the year 1000 A.D OTL is religiously divided between the worshippers of Sol Invictus and Woden. The Temple of Sol invictus is centered in the grand temple of Athens the centre of the Empire.
The Roman Empire rules over the Balkans, Italy, The Mediterranean Islands, Hungary, Western Anatolia, Cyprus and Southern Gaul. They lay claim to the legacy of Rome though the Lingua Franca is Greek and they're under a Greek dynasty.
Other Sol invictus nations include various Latin and Germanic nations throughout France, Spain, the Caucasus, Southern Germany and the Ukraine.
Opposing the Roman Empire is the High-Kingdom of Deutschlund. Deutschelund is a Germanic nation that claims itslef as the centre of the Wodenist religion. Wodenism is spread throughout Europe and is the national religion in nations across Northern Europe, Britain and West Russia.
Southern most Spain is a Christian nation that is a holdout from the Arabic invasion of the Iberian Peninsula along with other Christian enclaves found across the continent.
Persecution:
Christianity is tolerated through the Roman Empire if only just and is largely ignored by the rest of Sol Invictine Europe. However they are still hunted across Wodenist Europe and have to hide their gatherings.
Sol Invictines and Wodenists get on as well as OTL Christians and Muslims did.

East Asia will definitely experience changes as there will be changes in the Central Asian demographics with a strong Persian Empire and a Christian/possible Buddhist religious presence influencing possible tribal migrations and expansion. However this will also influence Eastern Europe.

(Maybe a Christian Mongol Empire. Maybe)
