Pacific Powers in a America screw

If America didn't form due to a POD post 1700, what nations could fill the void to dominate the Pacific.

Also could this have the potential to quicken the development of naval technology. For instance could this lead to earlier adoption of carriers?

It will greatly depend on which country takes the United States' place on the west coast. Mexico could be a strong contender without the U.S. beating up on them. Britain, assuming that it still has Australia combined with an increased presence in the Pacific Northwest, will be a little stronger in the Pacific than OTL. Chile is a wild card. They're one of the more stable countries in Latin America and could develop into a significant naval power. If Japan modernized like OTL, they could do something, but without the U.S. forcing Japan to open, there's certainly no guarantee of that. Honestly, with a 1700s POD, the Pacific is going to be largely unrecognizable.

My feeling is you cannot get rid of us, for we are unkillable zombies, a naturally conquerable turf. Diamond called China that, and Russia must be, by what they did.

That'd mean you can't get rid of us, only rename to whatever the language is, whether local American,, or Viking Norse or Arabic, or whatever.

Fragmentation doesn't work because it's easy to conquer, like we did, and unpopular.

Sorry...
