Outcomes of the English Civil Wars

Hi all,

Interested to get a few in-depth and imaginative ATLs resulting from the English Civil Wars and it's surrounding events; e.g. Interregnum, Commonwealths, Restoration, Glorious Rev etc etc

Couple to get us started:

-In the result of a Royalist victory; what implications would this have for the monarchy in the 'three kingdoms' in successive generations?

-What other possible results could have come from the Putney Debates; e.g. if the Levellers and other radicals had a more dominant position in the debates?

-Possible other candidates for Lord Protector (or alternative position)?

-Rise in influence of radical agitators such as the Quakers, Levellers, Diggers etc?

Depends on how absolute the victories are.

I can't see how you could really have a Parliamentary victory more absolute than OTL (Charles I is hanged, drawn, and quartered?:rolleyes:).

As to a Royalist victory? If limited, Charles might be forced to make an aggreement with the English Gentry, and/or force the Puritans to flee England. To the Netherlands, or America. If the Royalists overrun England, defeat the Scots, linkup with Montrose, and use Irish Catholic troops:eek: to hold down the rest of Great Britain...

Absolute Monarchy in the UK, Charles has his "French" State, Parliament is abolished, and the Magna Carta becomes a scrap of paper.:(:(:(:(:(:(
