Out Of Africa: African Colonial Powers

Assuming that European colonialism is delayed or diverted elsewhere, what are the odds of an African kingdom such as Numidia developing into a colonial empire outside of Africa following the collapse of the Western Roman Empire? (This is assuming they could develop trade with someone-the Byzantines?-who had access to classical knowledge that could be saved a la the Middle Ages in Europe.)

maybe if axum had a stronger navy, they could have colonized southern arabia, instead of arabs colonizing ethiopia.

if the moors were still a force in morocco after the roconquista, they might have been a colonizing power in the americas.

tunisians attempted to colonize italy during the dark ages.

It doesn't always have to axum or ethiopia come on. We need other powers to don't forget about the Songhai if there was not any morracon invasion in everything they could have lasted quite a while. And there was other power's to the kongo and others.

Axum did conquer yemen, and one of their kings even attempted to destroy the kaaba in Mecca and build a cathederal, but lost his army in some natural or unatural dissaster.
This is an important story as this is the same year Prophet Muhamed was born, in the year of the elephant (named after the elephants that were in the axumite army).
