Holy shit no

When I wrote the 2014 election results for India I excluded any independence and Muslim parties by legal and illegal, so basically it is a coalition of right wing parties. There was unrest separatist movements in OTL Bengal and Pakistan against Hindu nationalism. This war will be nasty, especially if India's neighbors begin to supply the Bengali's.

One lot is going to go "no, no, no", another lot is going to go "good riddance, let someone else have this problem", another lot is going to go "maximum border gore", etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ireland is officially in favor of unification, but unofficially against it (because then they have to deal with the IRA and unionists), while the UK is the other way around (because then it becomes Ireland's problem).

This Bengali Independence conflict is fascinating and I looked forward to seeing what will happen next. Good job as always :)

Is the Bengali Independence movement almost entirely religious based, or are Hindu Bengali's also involved and fighting against the Indian government? Also, what are the claimed borders of this independent Bengal, I assume it is much larger than our own Bangladesh.

Oh no.

Thackeray is a literal fascist. This is going to be far, far worse than the OTL Bangladeshi Independence War, if it comes to that.

It does not seem like it will be pretty.

Really interesting stuff. It would be neat to see a new nation develop during the TL in live time, so I’m excited to see where this goes.

Just some stuff I got from the mentioned articles:
What’s the platform of the Socialist Workers’ Party over in the USSR?
I’m assuming Whitehall is the British PM, correct?
It’s a shame that Lopez has left the 2020 primary, but what’s that looking like by now?
Why does Germany have a minister-president (I do like that title!) instead of a chancellor?

Thank you!

The Socialist Worker's Party is a socialist party that focuses on middle class and worker's interests. It is the only non-Communist party in the Soviet Union (though it remains steadfastly Socialist and loyal to the ideas of a Soviet Union).
Whitehall, as has been stated before, is shorthand for the British Civil Service.
I will have a Christmas-day update on U.S. Politics :)
There is still the federal Chancellor (Reichskanzler) but the leaders of all the states (except Danzig and Berlin) are styled Minister-President (Ministerpräsident)

Yikes. The next few weeks for India aren't going to be very pleasant, to say the least.

A couple of questions:
1.) Currently, how strong is separatism in the western Muslim-majority portions of India?
2.) So with a communist Greek PM and U.S. Governor, have red scare-esque sentiments declined overall? Does McCarthyism still exist? Did McCarthyism even exist?
3.) What's with the recent War in the Balkans in the sidebars?
4.) Are there any current, serious separatist movements around besides Bengal and the North Solomons?

That's for sure.

1) Rising by the day.
2) There was never a McCarthyist Red Scare in the United States. The Soviet Union had often been seen as an ally (see: Peculiar Relationship), and also a teachable moment about the necessary steps needed to reform society. This is what helped to launch the Progressive movement into overdrive. In a sense, this was the first Red Scare, bringing forth reforms to blunt any potential unrest in that way.
3) Serbia (Yugoslavia) and Croatia have been involved in a low-level war over the treatment of Bosnians/the mostly unstable border.
4) Depends on how serious you mean. There are Ukrainians who want independence. Transylvanians who want out of Hungary. North Borneo wants independence from the Philippines. There are people in Hong Kong who want to leave the United Kingdom. Welsh, Scottish independence movements exist. There's all degrees of seriousness to these and it's hard to say which one is "more serious" than the last.

Interesting but @Kanan, may I ask you five questions:
Why did the Vietnamese government closed down the borders with Cambodia? Are there any international organisations and human rights groups involved in condemning the border massacres perpetrated by the Cambodian government?
How did the British PM Whitehall hold such referendum in the colonies for national representation? Are any calls or movements that could led to some British colonies to declare unilateral independence?
Why Tchad suspended the elections? How did the military involve with the kind of problems?
What’s going on with the Indonesian waters? How difficult is widespread dangerous piracy in Indonesia?
Currently, how hard is crackdown on anti-government protests in Northern China?

1) There have been several towns burned and the people found missing or dead on the border between the two countries. All indications were that it was the Cambodian government executing these actions for unknown reasons.
2) Prime Minister Burnham is making good on one of his campaign promises of electoral reform. His proposals during the campaign were to give all colonies representation in Westminster, even if they had local governments (Suez, Hong Kong), and would be eligible to vote in both.
3) Tchad suspended elections because it has claimed there would be foreign (French) interference in them, making them untrustworthy.
4) Piracy is a state-sanctioned way of generating revenue for the state.
5) Fairly severe, police are making arrests and ensuring protesters are kept away from vital transportation infrastructure so they cannot block subways and motor traffic.

Everyone else asked the questions I wanted to ask, but what will the Duke and Duchess of Albany be doing while they're in Hannover?

The Duke and Duchess of Albany will be visiting Herrenhausen Palace, which remains open to use by the British Royal Family.

Oh damn, is Ireland about to be reunified? Wonder what sort of....troubles, this is about to cause

Most likely significant ones.

One lot is going to go "no, no, no", another lot is going to go "good riddance, let someone else have this problem", another lot is going to go "maximum border gore", etc.

This, essentially.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ireland is officially in favor of unification, but unofficially against it (because then they have to deal with the IRA and unionists), while the UK is the other way around (because then it becomes Ireland's problem).

The official policy in Ireland is unification of the island as quickly as possible, but unofficially it's a mixture of abject terror and dread when the British finally do leave.

NO

NOT THE TRIUMPHENT TRIUMPH PARTY OF TRIUMPHANTS!

Truly this world is now on an inevitable downturn. :(

Sadly yes. The full name was, in fact, "Vermin Supreme's Triumphent Triumph Party of Triumphants"

Thank you!!

The Bengali independence movement at the moment is wholly secular. The Indian Government has slid further and further towards Hindu nationalism, and the secular nature of the constitution is increasingly at risk. The people of Bengal are seeking to return to this previous norm, and all other options have been exhausted. During the referendum on the matter, held a few months back, 77.5% of Bengal voted to leave India.

Here is the State of Bengal:

Hm. Does Andy Burnham have similar policies to his OTL counterpart? What is the general UK economic consensus? Who were there equivalents to Attlee or Thatcher in terms of shifting this consensus?

Most likely significant ones.

Interesting. So regarding reunification, what is the general opinion coming from the UK? Would letting Northern Ireland go actually benefit Britain in any way ? Apart from the whole IRA mess, could an economic sinkhole for example, finally be coming to an end ?
