I want to make a submission to the DBWI contest. But first, don't DBWI generally invovled hypothically situations in which events that actually occured in history are discussed as if they hadn't actually occured (i.e.-Would the South have succeeded if Abraham Lincoln had been elected President) or to give a OFC example 'What if Prime Minister Bush had gotten New England involved in the Falklands War?". Anyways- Kanan's rules don't seem to indicate this, with the Socialist Republic of Germany example, so I'm just going to assume it's an alternate OFC history contest?

At any rate, here's my submission:

Interesting.
How much of an impact did this have on calls for decimalisation of Sterling?

Not a lot. It was just seen as easier to trade with the Provinces of Canada (which used a decimal system) and the United States (likewise). The New England Pound was, for a lot of its history, pegged to the value of two and a half Crowns, and conversions between the two outside of trade was fairly rare.

Thank you!! :coldsweat:

Haha, I've honestly done the same thing myself sometimes!! Trying to find an old article or bit of lore I've done!

Have you ever thought of setting up some sort of webpage to act as a wiki for this scenario? Based off your format that makes extensive use of wikiboxes and articles, I think it would be a great idea.

What do we know about the history of higher education in New England besides the Connecticut University of New England? Is the University of Cambridge, MA (1779?) the first institution to bear the name 'university'? Is there a Royal University of Boston?

I took a quick pitstop from what I'm working on to *kinda* answer your question...
