Well i mean, yeah, Pauline Hanson would have that effect on a government.

Also with the nationals at 5%, will this be basically a Progressive-Conservative type collapse of the Nationals

Nationals trying to kill centerlink, sounds about right, would never happen though.

So there is a massive South African population in Aus then.

Also Riccardo winning F1 (hopefully he went to Ferrari like he should have iotl instead of bloody Renault)

Superbowl in Adelaide lol.

Bunderberg Man escapes death using a boomerang, that's a NT News headline if i've ever seen it.

Anyway, the ABC website is absolutely on point

well if the conservative faction of the libs ended up on the side of the nationals it would be pretty easy actually.
But how? The Country party was set up as an Independent rural interests party, and didn't start formally allying with the Liberals until the 60s. The Liberal party, and especially its forerunner the United Australia Party are big tent parties, long taking in conservatives and liberals. The Liberal party is the party of the Urban right, of the urban middle class (Menzies forgotten people) and the upper class elite. Meanwhile the Labor party is the party of the workers, of the lower class, be they Miners, be they Factory workers.
The National party represents the country, the Farmers, the Graziers and the people who support them in Country towns. The Nationals are a fundamentally populist party, while the right-wing of the Liberals are Conservative elitists, who represent Businessmen and Industrialists. There is a great difference between the two.

My guess is how the split went in 45 or whenever is that the Nationals ended up being the main party instead with both hard C conservatives heading there (think your abbotts, howards, downers etc) and isn't a rural party exclusively (though i suspect due to their roots are much better placed their than the libs, who as we can see, would get nothing in rural areas).

The Liberals here are small L Libs (which lets be honest, even iotl, there is a significant faction within the party, i'm guessing old m8 Malcolm, Costello, probably even Fraser fit the category).

Of course Labor is Labor still.

My guess is that the UAP of this timeline had the Nats as the head honchos.

The split almost doesn't happen like otl.

Ireland; List of Taoiseach
gxv0Gkq.png

Ireland is a country in the British Isles which occupies the southern portion of the island of Ireland. The capital and largest city is Dublin, which is located on the eastern part of the island. The country shares a single land border, with Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.

The state was created as the Irish Free State in 1922 as the result of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. The country would remain a Dominion in the Commonwealth until 1936 when it became a republic during the Anglo-Irish War of 1936. Ireland has been a member of the United Nations since its founding in 1954, and a full member of the Zollverein since 2013. Other than these two entities, Ireland does not have a robust foreign policy, and favours neutrality on the world stage. Irish politics revolve around the country's relationship with the United Kingdom, which Ireland has long contested illegally occupies the eight counties of Ulster which compose Northern Ireland.

Ireland had a brief, but brutal, Civil War from 1982-1983 over the support of the terrorist organisation the Irish Republican Army and official government support for that organisation. Since the Civil War, Irish politics has moderated significantly, to the point where the country now has an ongoing dialog with the government of Northern Ireland since the mid 2000s, and Irish leaders have met with British Prime Ministers several times, and have forged ongoing talks about the outstanding border issues. Most recently, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has agreed to negotiate with the country over cross-border issues, and recently the two government have signed the Danzig Accords, which lifts the Ban on Determination, which had previously been in place preventing any political body in Northern Ireland from holding a referendum on its status. The current Northern Irish government, led by the Democratic Unionist Party, has refused to hold any referendums on the status of the region, despite strong support in County Monaghan and County Donegal for unification with Ireland.

So the currency of the Zollverein is the Reichsmark? Were people in Ireland even a little uncomfortable with that?

It is. Sure, there was an anti-Zollverein sentiment in Ireland but Germany countered this with a crap ton of investments and infrastructure projects.

The dates for O'Duffy seem off. Are they deliberate?

FAKE NEWS! :p

Well that was darker than I expected.

No kidding.
