9% for Sanders HAH!

Sanders' "We want to fight for you, the working class against the wealthiest. The millionaires and billionaires have for far too long held an iron fist on the country. It's time we band together and support a political revolution." is quite extreme. Inciting a class war, espousing his hatred for wealthy folk and demanding a political revolution. Is Sanders a closet commie?

He's not exactly charismatic on the national stage.

If I was to go Biblical, then I would describe Bernie as the Moses, but someone in his party as the Joshua, the one who'll lead them to power.

@Kanan: Any possible SDP "top brass" that could replace Bernie?

New england, an independent culture that still has a lot of american values.
In this timeline doesn't New England have more a combination of American and particularly British values, even leaning more towards British values in the same way that Canada has its own set of values separate from the United States IOTL?

Yeah but there are still american values.

Hmm... maybe Paul Tonko of Albany? The sitting MPs are currently the "top brass" as it is. Perhaps Jim McGovern or Chuck Schumer as well.

Yeah but there are still american values.

One of the two major U.S. Political Parties is called "Social Labor." A fusion of rural/urban socialism guides that party's philosophy. North America is staunchly anti-Communist, but socialism isn't some crazy taboo ideology limited to the arctic north of Scandinavia.

Bernie just leans heavily more towards the socialist side than the traditional moderate socialism/liberalism of the Labour Party.

Labour has actually gotten a lot less socialist in recent decades

The UK Labour Party in Our Fair Country never had the Blairite reforms, and the Post-War Consensus still dominates in Britain. While the New England Labour Party has followed this trend, it's hardly justification to dismiss socialism as not an American value.

I was talking about OTL Labour.

Interesting prediction. I see Parti Francophone seemed to give up the ghost even with the pundits.
I didn't include them because they only got 0.5% of the vote and 0 seats. I'm surprised they aren't polling higher right now. Weren't they at their height of popularity last election? I think New England will witness the death of the Parti Francophone soon (at least nationwide) and that's sad. What other major party could represent the interests of French speakers in New England as well as Parti Francophone?

New England has a history of swing-y elections. A big part of Parti Francophone's woes are that Dominic LeBlanc has resigned his seat and the party leadership. They can't quite get their message out there, and there's a bit of "Carbonemania" going on where people are highly supportive of the Conservatives. There's also the rural element of the electorate who take strongly to Sanders' message of economic imbalances so there's a couple flashes of rural support breaking towards the Social Democrats.

Depending on who you ask, the Conservatives do just fine representing the French speakers. Remember Adirondack is heavily French speaking and mostly populated by Acadians, yet they primarily elect Conservatives. Parti Francophone is very much a Maritimes-based party. Most Quebecois and French immigrants do not support them. They are still widely seen as the "Acadian Party"
