What does NECN stand for? New England something. The site also seems to lean conservative, so maybe its New England Conservative News?

Hi everyone!

Guess this is gunna be a monthly thing now cause I got another monthly update to give everyone.

So many didn't turn out as planned and I barely got anything (read: none) from the backlog done. I'm gunna force myself to knock one thing off that list each week until I get it done. So we'll see how that goes. Otherwise, for June I am looking towards ramping up the amount of campaign posts and articles, so it is unlikely that I'll be pushing out any large updates (think maps, wikipages) but I hope to continue to push out content near daily.

I hope everyone is ok with news articles. I've been relying on them heavily now (mostly because I have them fully built and working in dreamweaver so it's a bit easier to do than doing it in Photoshop) because I otherwise don't have a good way to convey the election updates. If you do not like the news articles please send me a dm or comment on here on what you'd like to see instead so I can also push those out! I want to make sure I have something for everyone during this time.

I am going to be in canada the end of this week into the weekend so it's gunna be another weekend without updates (sorry :()

As for polls, it's really a strain to do every other day, so for june and july I am just going to do two updates on those a week to give everyone a sense of what is going on with the electorate.

Just to make it clear now: I am now engage in the process of writing a full history book for New England, a page of which I demoed earlier. My Patreon supporters will be able to follow along in its construction, and will have access to chapters as I finish them, and everyone will have access to the PDF of the entire book when it is done. I am penciling in around 100 pages for this book according to my rough outline. As for an ETA? I really don't know. If I had to guess, Spring 2019? Chapter 1 has been started and I'm about 2 pages in.

As always thank you guys SO SO much for reading along and supporting. It humbles me to know that you all on some level like my creation and I wake up all the time with a passion and zeal to create more <3

Kanan, I would like to congratulate you for services to alternate history, for going above and beyond the call of duty, and providing us with awesome.

Have a picture of a soviet space cat.

Great googly moogly. You are a titan among worldbuilders, Kanan.

Kanan, I want to thank you for being a huge inspiration for me. Do whatever you want, because you can achieve it. U were my inspiration for my ideas for an alternative history, and anyone who loves cats has to be good.

Kanan, you are a living legend and the best alternate historian, not joking. Here is a cat pic to keep you going:

Amazing work as always, I'm loving the Canadian election coverage. Though I have some trouble seeing Poilievre emerging as the leader of the moderate eastern faction, given that IRL he only moved to Ontario from Alberta to work for Stockwell Day, and has a reputation for being very dogmatically right-wing.

The right wing in Canada is a lot more skewed than you'd expect from a party named "Progressive Conservative." Preston Manning would find himself nearer to the centre of the PCs rather than the right. The reason why this is such a problem is that people like Poilievre are the centre while a politician like Mulroney or even some right leaning Liberals would be considered to be centre/centre left PCs.

Edit: Basically the impetus behind this is that, as can be seen, the PCs never split up and shattered, meaning Manning + western PCs gradually shunted the party further and further to the right. With Quebec and Ontario willing to stomach (at the very least) electing moderate centre-right MPs this is how the party is (was) able to stay together as a unified force. The constant pull right-ward, combined with the strong powerbase in the Prairies + Columbia & Alaska, means that the east have the choice to vote for Liberals (seen as untrustworthy), the NDP (seen as too far left), or the PCs (who throw up mostly acceptable candidates). The Canadian right is pretty much split between East and West, where the best analogy could be summed up as:

Newfoundland, Labrador, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba* = Modern CPC
Manitoba*, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Athabasca, Columbia, Yukon, Alaska = Modern Republican/Tea Party
