Ottoman Military Question

I was playing DarthMod for Empire Total War, and came across a unit description talking about how European armies of the time (1700s) tended to gather regiments together under certain generals, but didn't have any formal formations higher than that. But it mentioned that the Ottomans and the Mughals had formal divisions and corps, at least on a theoretical level.

Any other information or clarification that anyone can provide.

Its a simplification, all major armies throughout history have been modular to some extent and have constructed forces based on the need and resources available. The basic building block of Western European armies at this time were Regiments of about 1,000 men (though they were very rarely actually that number, often being <400 men in peacetime and <100 men after a bloody battle).
The Ottoman army existed for a long time and was made up of different units so it depends who you are talking about and when. The basic building block of the Janissaries was the orta which were often about 250 men (though it varied from <50 to 1,000 over the period).
The Otttomans also had the Azabs which were the (Turkish Muslim) milita and that was organised on a regional basis so the basic unit around which everything was based were often more than 1,000 men, occasionally as many as 10,000 though then they would be subdivided. But there must have been occasions when a provincial levy would be under <1000 men, so it depends when and where you are talking about.
All in all its true to an extent though as always its complicated.
