OTL Picketts Charge/Jeb Stuart

So I read a book a while back (that I cant find to cite) But The premise was that Lees' master plan was to have Jeb Stuart hit the rear of the Union lines whilst Pickett hit the front. Thanks to Custer and the Union cavalry blocking Stuart and the artillery barrage falling behind the Union line, the plan failed.
Today I saw this Civil War Video and the mustachioed man mentioned this theory as "fabricated"
I can imagine how an armchair enthusiast could come up with such a scheme and it would be a good pod/tl as well. But does the theory hold any salt?

You would probably have more luck moving this to pre 1900, where people talk about actual history here and not stupid politics/current events. Imagine talking about history on this website.

I think the plan until JEB ran into Custer's Wolverines was to turn on what would be fall on Hancock's Corps running (at that point.) Even if Pickett's boys had managed to get to the wall somewhat more intact, I doubt it would have worked. The artillery pretty much had done them in. Without the South being able to lead Canon up the attack axis they were kaput. It was not going to be any more successful than a frontal assault than at Fredericksburg or Malvern Hill.

Although if they had broke the line it would have been good is Stuart's Calvary had been there, more of a Napoleonic result.

Even if Jet Stuart’s cavalry managed to helped out Pickett during the assault you still have to account for both the Federal artillery and the fresh VI Corps that was held in reserve for such a possibility. Due to the rifle musket and the Mimi ball bullet, defending soldiers could fire off more accurate shots at a much further distance. Therefore in order for a front assault to have any chance of success an attacking army needs to be to outnumber the defenders at least 3 to 1 and also have artillery support in order to weaken the defender’s morale and soften them up. The Confederates simply didn’t have enough fresh troops after two days of battle to stage such an assault upon the Federal lines.

Federal Artillery was nearly exhausted ammunition, hence why Meade forced Hancock to cease counter fire prior to the Confederate attack. At this point too, VI Corps was already committed to the line.

The theory (Carhart's nonsense) is fabricated, Stuart’s job on Day Three in light of all of the available evidence, Stuart's primary mission was to secure Lee's left (Ewell--not PPT troops) and ensure that Union cavalry under David Gregg would not get in behind his lines. Also, it was David Gregg’s cavalry that stopped Stuart not Custer.
