Screenshot from my video series on history of Poland. Mess of feudally fragmented Silesia in 1323, just a few years prior to Bohemia vassalasing most of those petty Piast duchies.

Anyone have a good basemap for the world circa 1950? The one on the wiki is absolutely horrendous.

I think the OP should be edited to include this (and every few months or so, we can compile the changes, and ask for the OP to be updated), or should we just make a new basemap thread with this as the OP (to avoid the clutter ?

I'd like to point out that, as far as I can tell, all of these links are broken.

I know they never were any kind of naval power, but it is still odd that south of the Istrian peninsula the entire Dalmatian coast is kinda out of limits

Well, the map says "1912" so I guess they made about 50~60 km/h on good routes.

It's a joke based on their somewhat idiosyncratic way of making up for network inconsistencies when mobilising for WWI - they decided that in order to avoid problems with coordination, every single train should move at the speed of the slowest train on the slowest line in the empire, which was 15 km/h. As someone put it, "Austria-Hungary went to war at the speed of a bicycle".

That and volcanoes and my guess in some place there are venomous snakes, bears, hornets and the dispute between Russia and Japan, the Yakuza and that's it

I mean, if that's the threshold then anything that's green should be yellow. Nature is dangerous everyone and there are places within nearly every city that you shouldn't go to.
