Other cases of massive diaspora immigration (back) to the "homeland"?

Thanks! :) Very interesting information! :)

Indeed, Mao is generally portrayed as a monster but, based on what you're saying, it looks like China's decline under Communist rule only began around 1960 or so.

Also, out of curiosity--had a nationalist Malaysian government after independence portrayed all Chinese as Communists and thus discriminated against its own population, could we see large-scale ethnic Chinese immigration to China from Malaysia?
There's a reason one of the Eight Elders (Forgot which one) said something along the lines of "If Mao Zedong died in the 1950s, he would be the greatest man to ever live. If he died in 1960s, he would be a good man with flaws. But alas, he died in the 1970s, so what can be said?"

(Explanation: In the 50s, China was going great. In the 60s, the GLF had just fucked over China. In the 70s, Mao went full Cultural Revolution and ruined China).

OTL there was a massive migration of Japanese Brazilians back to Japan in the 1980s and 1990s. If you can have Brazil somehow go down the toilet, it's possible many more would try to migrate to Japan.

Some 40000 Czech returned from Volyn which was part of Poland and USSR before WWII and part of USSR after WWII. Does population echange with Hungary count? Some 70000 Slovaks returned.
