I heard in the time French revolution there was a dutch prince who wanted to be the King of France, what would happen if he did become the king of france?
I doubt after 'fighting' the catholic church, they want a protestant power...
I always wondered, what was the Revolution's ideas and what they did toward the protestants of France? I am sure the revolutionaires raised protestant churches anyway, all the same to them...
The only churches they RAISED would have been temples to the cult of reason. Razed, on the other hand...
I am not sure who you are talking about. The only one I know who wanted to become king of France was the future Dutch king Willem II (of whom I have a pretty low opinion), but he would have been too young during the French revolution.I heard in the time French revolution there was a dutch prince who wanted to be the King of France, what would happen if he did become the king of france?

I agree, we had pretty terrible kings, the last one was even nicknamed king Gorilla. Luckily our queens (at least two of them) were/are a lot better.@ Pompejus; IMHO Willem (William) I, II and III each had his own shortcomings, for instance Willem I was a visionary, but too autocratic (gaining (good) and then again lose a united Low Countries (not so good...) IMHO isn't good either, but Willem II role during that event also wasn't great).
He will say, Paris is worth the mass and converts to Catholicism and annexes Netherlands to France just like what Henry of Navarre did.I am not sure who you are talking about. Still it seems like, well, a bit ridiculous whoever it was. Why would the French accept a Dutch protestant* king, who had absolutely no rightful claim to the French throne?
* ok, he could convert to catholicism
Yeah, he probably will convert. Still I see no reason why any Frenchman would accept a Dutch king (wether Catholic or not) if he has no claim to the throne whatsoever. He will say, Paris is worth the mass and converts to Catholicism and annexes Netherlands to France just like what Henry of Navarre did.
Yep many will not like him and he will be the first King of France named Guillaume, right.Yeah, he probably will convert. Still I see no reason why any Frenchman would accept a Dutch king (wether Catholic or not) if he has no claim to the throne whatsoever.
Also annexing the Netherlands isn't as easy as it seems. First of all stadholders aren't kings. At best it would lead to a personal union, not unlike the Anglo-Dutch union. Just before the French revolution and the Batavian Republic the stadholders weren't realy populair in the Netherlands and only managed to get into office through foreign (mainly Prussian) support. So if this catholic Orange-Nassau French king starts to bcome a dictator, they will get rid of him, probably with the support of Britain, Prussia and various French factions who do not want an Orange-Nassau at the French throne.
Ok, lets assume you meant future king Willem II, who planned to do it after the French revolution. First you have the problem that personal unions (besides Luxemburg) are outlawed by the Dutch constitution. So you can't become king of both France and the Netherlands.
