Operation Vulture goes Ahead

For those of you who don't know

So this is assuming that the decision is made to give air support to French troops (maybe we should hold off on the nukes, seems a little heavy-handed).

What would some of the longer-term effects be, I could see decolonization taking longer definitely, but apart from that I can't draw any obvious conclusions. Could see a more direct Soviet-NATO confrontation in the near future and perhaps a generally more hardline US.

What do you guys think?

Yeah but if they hold on to it for longer don't you think that the other colonies will be held on to for longer as well?

It depends, there might be a critical point beyond which the lack of public support will make decolonisation accelerate considerably. If holding French Indochina "uses up" public support faster than withdrawing would have, in this scenario it might actually speed up the loss of the other colonies.

Algeria's a whole different beast, and I don't think you could stop it from falling into civil war with a POD this late into the 20th century.
