There were people in wartime Japan who were anti-war, and there were people with the means and potential motivation to effect a coup.

But. These were different groups. The anti-war types had no means whatsoever of pulling this off. They had no deep widespread support in the military ranks.

Any coup in Japan is going to be by the militarists, and will only make things worse.
