Operation Long Jump successful

I suspect that the relations between the West and the USSR would be better. Eden becomes UK Premier- well that was Churchill's advice to King George VI. Henry Wallace was US VP. I do not know who would succeed in the USSR, but it is hard to see anyone worse than Stalin was in OTL.

Well, if he has the guns, he has the power. And he has the guns.

It's not that easy. Shukov has the loyalty of most of the army, but Beria has the NKVD security troops, informers and agents, and probably controls most of the ministries. If it really comes bown to a confrontation, the question is going to be who acts first. If Shukov can get his troops to the streets of Moscow, the NKVD has lost and Beria will go. If Beria gets his men into the ministries first, he can arrest key figures and recall Shukov before the big guns are in play. Nobody wants a civil war at this point, so it is likely that whoever comes out on top stays on top.
