Only 'Bloody Mary' Survives

What would be the effects if, of all Henry VIII's children, only Mary survived beyond a few years. Therefore, when Henry dies in 1547 Mary gets the throne and restores Catholicism. Who would she marry? If she has no children, who will get her throne? What if?

She'd probably marry Phillip of Spain as IOTL in either 1547 or 1548. Given that she marries 7 or 8 years earlier she might have the chance to produce a viable heir although given the problems her father had producing an heir this may be problematic.

If there is a living child then Mary's death in 1558 would have Phillip acting as Regent as was laid down in Mary's will IOTL although given his other responsibilites as king of Spain a suitable catholic noble would probably act as his deputy.

Although there would have been considerable religious turmoil it would not have been beyond the resources of the Tudor state to control and then crush any protestant reaction with a knock-on effect on the Dutch Revolt and the European Wars of Religion 1618-48 (no Winter Queen for example).

If there was no heir then the next in line would be Mary, Queen of Scots then living at the French court. There could also be a possiblity that Phillip given the rivalry between Spain and France might be willing to counternance Lady Jane Grey, the next in line becoming Queen. This always assumes that Jane survives the Marrian persecutions.

Isn't it possible that she marries a considerably younger Charles V instead? Marriage to Philip is a likelier way of having England added to the Hapsburg domains, which isn't what any (English)man wants.

Charles V has far less ability to travel to London and back occasionally, or Mary to Vienna. The match may make good political sense in the short term, but a paper marriage almost certain to produce no heir is in no one's interests. Phillip is indeed still the most probable match.

If there's only one child, he or she becomes King or Queen of Spain and the English crown would pass to Mary Queen of Scots according to Phillip and Mary's OTL marriage contract; Englishmen would probably demand the same clause TTL. No personal union would be contemplated.

Edward Courtenay, Earl of Devon is probably in second place if the anti-Spanish faction or Mary's whims sink the Spanish marriage.
