IN 1991 in Havana, Cuba the 11th Pan-American games were staged. This event had more coverage then should merit the competition due to the state of the Cuban economy and potential unrest. Reporters were ultimately disappointed and the games finished without incident.
However what if at Beijing 2008 the vast crowds in the stadiums and the massive media coverage spell out the worst fears of communist regime with anti-government slogans in the stadiums and civil unrest?
With the Chinese Government putting so much effort and time into these Olympics to shown the “New China”. What would happen if pro-democracy forces in China disrupt them, under the spotlight of the International Media and the internal Chinese audience?
