Of Koopa's, Kremlings and Hedgehogs

Umm, Microsoft have very little 1st party games, the most important one are Halo, Forza, Project gotham racing(killed because forza mas more popular), Rare games, Fable and few other of minor importance.

Halo..... that can be either a company Interesting, maybe Eidos?(Activision will have call of duty, Take two is a possibility, Electornics Arts too, THQ have homefront, Sony have Killzone and Resistance, Capcom have Dead Space)

Forza.... maybe Nintenga or Take-two?(Sony have Gran turismo,EA have NEED for Speed, Eidos is a chance too, THQ too, heck even Capcom)

Fable..... don't know who will wanto the deal with Peter Monyleux.

So there is a chance for a lot of possibilities, have to be proper studied.

Nintendo has Sega GT as their "realistic" racing game, but I could definitely see Activision getting it.

Could Nintendo buy Bungie?

Nintendo's aiming to regain the American audience it had in the N64 years, the Gamecube kept some of that support, but the goal of the GC was to regain Japanese market share.

umm i forgot about it(and Outrun too, that game was simple amazing in the original Xbox) so maybe Activision looks like a good choice(better that Blur,)

Umm maybe Take-two and keeping the game a PC-Revolution Exclusive(and make compilation of Halo),plus take-two will help activision with his massive shoter RPG: Destiny(who for me it's ok is average but other loved it) in pc and consoles, so better Take-Two

Umm, here Nintedo will keep the american audience for a while and with the xbox360 collapse will keep it and increased it and if the PS3 still suffer otl growing pains(600$ at launch, very poorly exclusive until MGS4, Losing a lot of exclusive), the console wars will be brutal during the seventh generation and will help with japanese support(and when the Dual gameboy explode in sales, japanese support have to come, more if nintendo keep the rule of a mandatory game per Gameboy at year).

Some ideas or suggestion for the timeline? Maybe Sega and Nintendo will collaborate more(Super Smash bros brawl ITTL will be interesting, more if more sega characther make to the cut.)

Another thing, having just binged on Golden Sun and Fire Emblem - will we see them become proper franchises given Nintendo getting much more attention in TTL? In my opinion, the Golden Sun games were a pair of two of the finest JRPGs ever produced, and Fire Emblem is a brilliant property that doesn't get nearly enough attention in the USA. How might they fare ITTL?

I havent given it much thought, but Nintendo in general is doing much better so yes.

Nice update fella, the list was pretty interesting and well made, even if some interesting spoiler can be obtained.

The list of changes of Smash Bros was nice, and cool the inclusion of Vyse and Ryu with scenario for their games, nice touch.

There some 'niptik'(can be butterflies) and interesting data:

Yazuka, that was Nagoshi(Daytona, super monkey ball, F Zero-gx) brainchild and made heavily with cooperation of former shenmue and jet set radio staffer(and showed it), thus moved to Amusement vision(unless nagoshi goes moved to AM2 to help with shenmue and jump to yazuka).

What happened to Sonic team?(forgot to mention?, they make phantasy star online and samba de amigo too).

so Silicon Knight is still with nintendo, maybe they now make Too Human as intended and become a very interesting game:

And a proper Eternal Darkness sequel as showed in Shadows of the Eternal.

and was Brownie Brown beforw 1-UP(and possible keep as that ITTL)

So very nice update full of details of the future.

I forgot to mention about Camelot in the second(now maybe first party and return to work in Shining Force games, can be the 'brotherly' franchise to fire emblem ITTL rather Shin megami tensei)

Maybe Camelot will make Golden Sun for the Gamecube/Revolution? that is posibility.

And fire emblem will need a proper push(but the game were very well recived... in handled, both otl console games post SNES bombed pretty hard) and can be better loved here.

Next update on Microsoft and the launch of the Xbox 360.

It will go from he end of the OG Xbox, to the end of the brand.

As far as companies go:
Namco, Take Two and Nintendo are very close

EA and Sony are very close

Capcom slightly supports Nintendo more than Sony.

Konami, Activisiion and Ubisoft are mostly agnostic in terms of console support.

Paradox Interactive will also get a section in the next update as will Steam/ Valve.

Thanks for the SK stuff, so they bascally said f*** Nintendo over the wii?

Well, that will be butterflied in this TL anyways.

In general, Nintendo strategy in this tl is to have more joint ventures with third party companies and to buy a stake in its second parties after they produce a hit game in conjunction with Nintendoand typically buy a majority stake later on.

And yes I did purposelly put some spoilers in the dev list, I found it quite helpful so I figured I'd post it in the TL for others and anyone who wanted to post some side updates.

More or Less, but more accurately that Dennis Dyack was full of himself after both Eternal Darkness and MGS:TS(that game still happened ITTL? Maybe Silicon Knights porting MGS2 to gamecube and later helping to port MGS3?) and microsoft was willingly to give money to win exclusives, god created and the join together and the whole otl fiasco happened.

Maybe here MS is more pragmatic and Dyack learn the chance to created the proper Too Human(Sci-fi) for the gamecube and later revolution(or the whole trilogy as revolution series)

Yes, after buying Sega and Courting Namco they are more agresive, the learn that you have to invest money to obtain marketshare and powerl.

Yes the list was interesting but lack severla one(Monolith Soft, Camelot and others) but nice update as always

Didnt know I forgot Camelot, fixed, its a first party dev, Nintendo has a lot less second parties, but the ones they have are much larger.

Monolith is in '07 isn't it?

"The History of the F-Box"
At E3 2004, Microsoft knew they were in trouble, third parties had abandoned them and a resurgent Nintendo was regaining the American market share leaving no room for the Xbox.

A shock announcement at the conference was the Xbox 360 would be launching in July of 2004. The launch was a disaster, and immediate reports of overheating nicknamed the RRoD, Red Ring of Death. It became evident that Microsoft had rushed the system out of the gate and with still no third party support and an angry public, Microsoft lost billions in refunding consumers after a series of lawsuits and finally decided to kill the Xbox 360 and the entire division.

We know that Microsoft will be unable to find a buyer for the division, so the big question is who will buy Halo?

Even though Halo was a hit success for the system, it lost Game of the Year to Metroid Prime

October 21st, 2005 The Day the Xbox Died

The Halo Auction
In recent video game company sales, this one was one of the most contested with companies varying from Sony, EA, Activision, Nintendo, and others all placed numerous bids on the IP and Bungie.

In the end though, Nintendo won the auction and purchased Bungie and the Halo IP scoring a major victory over Sony and EA. In a press release from Nintendo, Nintendo stated that the "Acquisition of Bungie would further consolidate support in the American market.

However, many journalists and market watchers were not aware of the situation behind Nintendo's purchase of Bungie. The point of the Xbox was to prevent Sony from dominating the video game market and the living room. In the actual bidding, Sony and Nintendo were the top two bidders and unknown to all but the higher ups in Microsoft, Nintendo had a lower bid than Sony, but Microsoft proffered Nintendo to Sony and did not view them as a direct threat or competitor to their core business.

The Rise of Paradox-Assembly Studios
On of the most shocking things in the early 2000s was the rise of Steam as a distribution system and the breakout success of Paradox Interactive, the game Crusader Kings, became a smash hit, and in 2004, they merged with the Creative Assembly under the name Paradox-Assembly Studios, with games like Total War, Europa Universalis and others, they would become a major force in PC strategy games. However the big news was their acquisition of the Age of Empires IP after Microsoft decided to sell off their gaming studios and IPs.

CNN News: Apple Buys Pixar

Umm Nice Update, even if think Microsoft would have wait to OTL 2005(acording to rumors, Xbox 360 was in prepoduction snce 2004 and the whole OTL fiasco was that they found to late about the failure in the industrial desing when they make the launch in octomber 2005... when they produced already 2 unit with the faultry design)

Umm So Nintendo Acquire Halo(in fact halo means little, but several friends love it), maybe Halo DS(Now Halo Dual?) will be a possibility: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91qQ7R30nAw (yes that was only a concept demo for a prototype but show the potential).

Maybe that would help to relieve pressure in metroid prime and keep the series First Person Action-Adventure and halo being the raw FPS(with Rareware being more cinematic).

for me Halo should have been better with Eidos, even Capcom or Konami, but nice thing(remeber otl early Nintendo-MS cooperation with the DS)

Nice butterfly, Paradox-Assembly will be the powerhouse in PC strategy game and will be nice seeing some spinoff of the more simulation heavy paradox games.

why Apple would buy Pixar? those are not need it, Apple is a hardware company, they're not interested into movies(for that Jobs negotiate to Disney, he want to give Pixar a good patron)

any idea or suggestion for the timeline.

Apple was heavily rumored to buy Pixar in '04 remember Jobs was the CEO of Pixar, Disney and Pixar split in '04.

I had Nintendo buy Halo, due to Microsoft likely preferring people into only gaming and someone sony or apple would not likely buy.

The whole point of the xbox was to beat Sony.

Thanks, Paradox-Assembly will be a very powerful publisher.

Were also coming up to the next gen and some other stuff.

I have plans for Apple.

The iGame
In early 2004, Apple decided to enter the console business.

The acquisition of Pixar would be the beginning of a buying spree for Apple and their plans for entering the industry.
Apple began courting programmers to create some internal studios that would combine Pixar's graphical talent and top of the industry programmers.

At the same time, they realized they would have to buy companies to be succesful in this venture, and entered negotiations with the following:
-Zenimax
-Midway
-Ubisoft
-Mistwalker
-Epic Games
-Eidos
-Tecmo
-Koei

In the end, they acquired all of these studios by 2006 and planned to release the iGame in 2007 with an official unveiling at E3 2005.

(Next Update on the end of the gamecube and then the Revolution launch)

Well, interesting about apple plans(and how they remplace microsoft as the third wheel in the market) and their 'target list' pretty middleweight(except Epic who is a Game Engine producer) developver who have experience with PC or pretty japanese games, useful can allow Apple to have his niche.

Some ideas how will affect other studios relationship? Will Apple Moneyhat Square-Enix for Multiplatform as OTL(first exclusive as Star ocean and later Final Fantasy XIII and other exclusives as multiplatform)

What will Nintenga do in the middle term, with Revolution, they now have the HD consoles and with the arcade counterpart support from Namco Capcom and other, will be interesting

How Sony will react? OTL they react too late but able to save the PS3(but very in a very violent wars)

Waiting for next update will be interesting.

Total War and Paradox Interactive games together....errr mah gerd! I'm looking forward to what else you have planned. :D

Perhaps there might be changes to some other series, like Assassin's Creed maybe dumping the poorly written present day plot or maybe sticking to being the Prince of Persia spinoff as it was.
