October 13, 1453

On October 13, 1453, Queen Margaret of England has the long-awaited Lancastrian heir, a boy who was called Edward.
The Queen had him named after Henry VII's favorite saint, Edward the Confessor, on whose feast day the child had been born.

Suppose Queen Margaret has a daughter, Princess Philippa. What happens then?

Richard of York gets a massive boost.

He may be able to bide his time, knowing that a mad king with an unpopular French wife and only a daughter doesn't need much in the way of destabilising. Then again, Richard was never brilliant at politics, so he might miscalculate his support, and cut his own metaphorical legs off. He did it far too many times in OTL: 1452; 1455; 1459; 1460 at the very least. Or he may attempt to secure his own loyalty by looking for a marriage between young Princess Philippa and his eldest son, the future Edward IV. I doubt Margaret of Anjou will be keen on that one though...
