Phil Bredesen for a short time was Obama's top pick for Health and Human Services Secretary.
The Progressive response to this was very very angry, as Bredesen had been the only Governor to ever cut Medicaid spending outright (despite having unified Democratic government in Tennessee) and was on the whole pretty center-right on the issue of healthcare. OTL he was a critic of the Affordable Care Act during the time of its passage, though being a moderate person he would later be opposed to its repeal.
What if Obama had picked Bredesen for HHS?
