According to Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe, Senator Obama told him in 2008 ""It's a coin toss now between Bayh and Biden, but Kaine is still a distinct possibility," to be named as Obama's running mate. Thus, it seems totally plausible for Obama to name either of these two men instead. The question is, how could they affect Obama's campaign or presidency? Now, Obama would most definitely still win the election. Could Tim Kaine help Obama in the South? Virginia would probably go for Obama by a greater margin, and the close senate races of Mitch McConnell and Saxby Chambliss could possibly be flipped. Both of them are fairly moderate Democrats. Could even more moderates jump ship on McCain due to Palin and go for Obama? How would the two face Palin in the debate?

Also, I imagine that as Bayh and Kaine are both much younger than Biden, they would have a much stronger standing in the 2016 presidential election predictions.
