What shocks me the most about this quote is not the amount of deaths but that they died in less than 2 weeks. That's an average of almost 14,700 men a day for twelve straight days.
Are there any other death tolls equal to or greater than the one at Kerch in a similar time frame on the Eastern Front?
I'm talking about individual battles not entire campaigns. What's the worst amount of Soviet casualties taken at a single battle or battles in a short time frame (no greater than a month) that occurred on the Eastern Front?
