I have read that without Nuclear power/weapons the United States was preparing to launch an all out invasion of Japan home islands. Estimates put death toll of over 500,000 to 1 million on both sides.
Japan had kamakasi personal subs and boats ready to launch at invasion fleet. So the biggest initial reprecusion of no nuclear power would be 100s of thousands of additional people killed and I wounder if Japan could of rebuilt the way it did after that.
How would American attitudes be if they sustained that many more deaths?
