This is an excerpt out of a U.S. Air Force history book, page 40, paragraph 2.11

"In 1946, the United Nations took up the issue of controlling nuclear weapons. By June (of) 1946, the commission completed a plan for the elimination of nuclear weaponry based on inspectors that would travel the globe to ensure no country was making atomic bombs and to supervise the dismantling of existing weapons. [...] the plan was vetoed by the Soviet Union resulting in almost five decades of cold war..."

Here is a thought, what if the Soviet Union agreed to the U.N. plan, and the plan was carried out. How would have history played out following this?
