Nuclear attack on the frigate Storozhevoy?

^ I prefer the big picture scenario books which do not have individual characters and are not just limited to a few units

I think that characters are one of the reasons TCs early books were so good. Ryan was just an analyst, COs of Dallas and RO, Russian General in RSR. That and they came out in the middle of RRs buildup and the evil empire. HFRO dealt with the secret world of Cold War submarine ops. It was new and fairly accurate technically. RSR was really about a naval war in the North Atlantic. Larry Bond helped/wrote a lot of the naval stuff. The action with the USS Chicago is probably the best and most technically accurate sub warfare I’ve read.

Let's face it, without Larry Bond's help (barely acknowledged) neither THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER nor RED STORM RISING would have been as good or as successful as they were.

Yes most " normal" people like such works , but then there are the odd nuts like me

What does that say about me then? I’ve read, and enjoyed, all the ones talked about so far. I also enjoyed most of Larry Bonds. “The Enemy Within” is very underrated IMHO.
