Nothing Can Stop a Bull Moose: A Timeline (Redux)

It's a bit difficult when the OP is so fundamentally flawed.

If I did a TL describing the capture of London after a successful Sealion, but my explanation of how the Wehrmacht ever got to London was full of holes, would it be possible to just "start the TL" from when it got there?
Ah, that makes sense. I'm not really knowledge in that area so I thought it was a bit of nitpicking involved

Not in this case.

Having TR win by managing to get the Republican nomination would be arguable, though imho still doubtful. But having him win the three way race is not. The Democrats were hot favourites in 1912 even before the Republicans split, and a dead cert after. They'd have to run a Bilbo or a Vardaman to be in any danger of losing, and they aren't going to throw away a sure win by doing anything that stupid.

Some of the best and most famous alternate histories out there have a implausible or even unexplained POD(Fatherland, TMITHC, etc.). Sometimes it's fun to just let it play out.

Trouble is, that works better for some TLs than for others. At the risk of committing a mild heresy, successful Sealion isn't too bad in that respect, since an implausible military success doesn't make much difference to the political consequences of such an invasion, which would be about he same however it was accomplished.

OTOH, if we take the OPs voting figures seriously, the Democrats have not only missed out on the Presidency (unlikely enough in itself) but have in all probability been also wiped out in Congress 1920-style. Such a huge loss of votes would surely be too great for ticket-splitting to overcome Yet this is even harder to swallow given their huge success only two years before. So we have an implausible PoD leading on to even more implausible results. Sorry if I sound like a spoilsport, but for me this is a WSoD too far.

Then don't read the TL. If you don't want to read it, get out and let the people who actually do want to read it enjoy it without having to read your negative comments.

If I have to read your comments I'm afraid you'll just have to put up with reading mine.

But you don't. Why are you here if you don't want to read the TL? Some people here, like me, actually want to read this TL. If you're just gonna sit here and post negative comments about how implausible it is, then you really should just politely ignore the thread and move on.

So we should all go along happily with "successful Sealion" threads?

If the initial assumption of a TL is so improbable as to verge on ASB, it is entirely proper to point this out. And if anyone can come up with a convincing way to get the Democrats (who'd just had their best midterm result in 20 years) to be squeezed lower than they have ever been in their entire history, I'm quite willing to listen, however sceptically.
