Norwegian Sjølberging (Juche) Republic, Ver 2.0

This is the former thread.

While I wandering on Wikipedia, I had a new idea about Juche Norway scenario, and a new version of this. It loosely refenced a Japanese AH novel, Seito.

In the 2.0 version, the Soviet Army enter Norway as the 1.0 version, but by the end of the war, they had to halted at Northern Trondelag. So the Kingdom Government was able to returned form exile and form a operational government in the middle and southern Norway. Trondheim became a divided city, as the result of iron curtain. Northern Norway became Democratic People's Republic of Norway, the capital is Tromso. Southern Norway is Kingdom of Norway, the capital is Kristiansand or Stavanger.

During the 50 years of standoff, the two regimes both sustained their large Armed Force, and the US and the USSR both deployed tactical nuclear weapons on their half Norway's soil.

In 1991, following USSR's collapse, the Kingdom of Norway and NATO started making plans about unify the whole Norway in one flag. By the time of the outbreak of the unify war in 1995, the Royal Norwegian Army’s Leopard 2A5NO against the Norwegian People’s Army’s T-72BM, the Royal Norwegian Air Force’s F-15EN strike fighter against the Norwegian People’s Air Force’s S-200 SAM...

The communist version would have a exstremly low population, and would be very very very relaiant on food imports. Would probably implode the moment the sovjet are gone.

Some spoilers:

1. The DMZ is in the middle Trondelag, guarded by both US/KoN troops and USSR/ DPRoN troops until 1991, the Soviets withdrew.

2. Both the United States and the Soviet Union deployed nuclear weapons in the half of Norway under their control. The Soviet Forces in Northern Norway was several times than the American Forces in southern Norway.

3. Corresponding to the “shrinking version of the Kim family” of the Democratic People’s Republic of Norway (or “enhanced version of the Ceausescu family”?), the Kingdom of Norway once had a military coup in the 1968 European left-wing climax (“European Park Chung-hee”) , but was suppressed. However, since then, the secret police forces have begun to viciously expand in the Kingdom of Norway.

4. Because of its absolute advantages in population, industry, and possession of oil fields, the Royal Norwegian Defense Forces have an absolute advantage over the Norwegian People’s Army in terms of quantity and equipment quality. The Kingdom of Norway's military’s military expenditure has been around 6% of GDP, while the Norwegian Democratic People’s Republic has exceeded 20%!

I need some reasonable conditions to make Northern Norway get through it until beaten by NATO in 1995.

Why would the Kingdom of Norway move the capital out of Oslo?

Otherwise, I think the Soviets taking over northern Norway and staying there would be a major departure in terms of the beginning of the Cold War. It would bring about a lot of butterflies. One of them might well be Sweden going *NATO, for example.

That is going to be, eh difficult.
So your northern norway also inncludes about half of middel, but these areas are the poorest, least populated lowest life expectancy areas in the country. They have about 10% of the population, but only have about 8 % of the economy ( Bnp of 319 902 kroner vs national average of 488 037). The economy is going to based somewhat on farming in Trøndelag, and fishing and forestry in the rest. The whole of norway today could, if we gave it everything, maybe cover about 60% of our calorie intact needed to avoid starvation, and that is with the south, witch is much much better for food. If you want to look at it a different way, the population density of norway is 16,0/km², about the same as Xinjiang, but for your northern norway, it would be about 3,3/km², about the same as Xizang.

By that time the country would be nearly completely depopulated. Like others have pointed out there aren't enough resources to keep the population in check. You can't mine the waters because its the main natural resource, You can't mine or patrol the border, its too long and there aren't enough people, the latter being the main problem with a population around 250000 at the time of establishment.

This is a state that is set to collapse in less than a decade after its established. The conditions for creating another Korea simply isn't there.

1.In order to get the capital as far from Soviet Force as they can.

2.The fortification of both Norway would be intensive, Soviet might use Tromso as a main naval-air base, American would built a similar one in southern, too. The confrontation around the demilitarized zone would be much more dangerous than Korean DMZ.
