Norway doesn't lose territories?

What if Norway had been able to keep its territories and not lose them to Denmark and Sweden?
Bonus point if also you can give Norway Franz Joseph Land

I take you mean Jämtland, Faroe, Shetland and Orkney Islands, Iceland and Greenland?

I don't know a plausible PoD to let Norway keep all that, but if Denmark could be relieved of diverting her resources over the centuries to those cold, wet, wind-blown and useless North Atlantic possessions (and with populations nevertheless allways feeling victmised) a lot may be different down in Continental Europe.

So while Norway spend her last dimes in the North Atlantic Denmark have a well equipped army and coastal navy that actually beats the Prussians in 1864 - next Bismarck falls, no German unification, no WWI or WWII - 60 million + survive

Seems like we've got to get rid of what is left out there ASAP.

Anyone care for a bid?

We'll give you 100€ a piece for Greenland and Faroe Islands, but you'll have to take over now!

;)

Härjedalen and Bohuslän are they called in Sweden, but what they were in the Norwegian realm I do not know.

If there had been no Kalmar Union and Norway stays independent even though it was weakened by the plague and by the little ice age, then perhaps it might have kept all areas, and the eastern settlement on Greenland would still be around, and perhaps there could have been some new advances on Wineland in the 1300s and 1400s.
