North America One Nation?

Is it possible assuming the PODs are right for the USA to control all of North America? Or would I have to put this thread in After 1900?

If you can get the Canadian colonies to rebel with the US in 1770s then that is the easiest way to get the northern part.
For Mexico, you need the Americans to defeat the Spanish and push further into Mexico, which they can if they haven't got the worry of British Canada to worry about.

The only problem with an early Union of North America is that, if it grows to quickly, like all Empires that try and do this, it may find more rebellions and civil wars the OTL America. Also Politics is going to be a lot more messier in a United North America.

Yes its doable, but not easy. It is also far more plausible for a pre-1900 POD than a post 1900 so your definitely in the right place.

In fact you might even need a POD during the Seven Years War or before so that you can play with the territory changes and the financial situations of various powers prior to the big rebellions.

I acknowledge that Mexico would be the hardest to deal with.

Canada joining the USA is the best bet to start it all.

Yes, but there are still inherent problems in that. Britain needs to not pass the Qubec act to make them more belligerent and rebellious, and w/out the Qubec act, a main grievance of the colonists, the OTHER grievances needs to be worse, ie worse taxation, or restricted western settlement via native american territory and so on to make up for it. Even if Quebec joins in rebellion, they are unlikely to join the US due to anti-catholic sentiment and differnces in culture. So you have to mitigate that in advance as well, or allow for an independent Quebec (or possibly more likely) one that rejoins France... and then take or absorb it sometime after the revolution in a different war.

You could always go the slow route. Maybe the US doesn't get quite as large as OTL, but it's still able to promote a North American supranational union that gradually develops into something resembling a single country.

Though that would require the USA getting over its racism, which probably would happen after WWII. Otherwise USA occupying a majority of the continent would be the closest thing.
