What if Charlesmangie's Empire wasn't broken up by his will? Whose side would they be on in WWI?
OOC: Actually based on a old post I found.
Even if Charlemagnes' Empire wasn't broken up after his death I have a hard time seeing it survive to the 20th century. And if it did, would there be a WW1, I mean Empires like Germany, France, Italy and Austria would not exist. In other words if Charlemagne's Empire wasn't Central Power, there would be no Central Power and thereby no war. This is like asking which side Djingis Khan's Empire or Alexander's Empire would have in a conflict hudreds of years later, without rethinking these hundreds of years, how they would look like with a certain Empire still existing.
OOC: You don't know what a NOOBWI is, I gather...
IC: They would join with the Entente, of course, in support of the Reconquista.
Japan, perhaps? Don't they contend with Britain for much the same territory?

Guys, you have it all wrong!
Charlemagne built the Roman Empire! So obviously he would support the Central Powers. Of course, there was the Black Death that killed everyone in Europe, so I don't think WW1 will happen unless Marco Polo can bring the Antidote from China in time.
This means that if Charlemagne had survived, Europe would have run over, by the Angles and the Saxons from England, and Europe would probably be one giant East Anglia for them.
Now you still have the Otto Mans' Empire, led by Otto von Bismarck, which will reunify Germany and destroy the Roman Empire later on, with or without Charlemagne, or his son, Fredrick Barbarossa. So, unless you can get rid of the Otto Man Empire, there will still be some kind of German nation later on.
You are going to have to do something larger than that to change WW1--I mean, WW0 pretty much caused WW1 with the sinking of that ship, the Bismarck, and the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York. Now, if you are going to stop WW1, you need Benito Mussolini of the UK and Harry Truman of Germany to give Lett Land and Fin Land to Po Land. Instead, Po Land started WW1 because its neighbors in Deutsch Land wouldn't give them that city, Mont-St. Michel, to them.
So, you have many causes for war, but I still think that Charlemagne's Roman Empire would have been wiped out by the Black Death because Marco Polo would not have left his hometown of Bucharest.
I can only hope that President Turtledove makes good on that Fluoridation policy...
