Im pondering a bit about the Non-proliferation Treaty. Perhaps someone could help me with some insight.
The treaty was opened for signatories 1. July 1968.
Article IX, paragraph 3 states: "... For the purposes of this Treaty, a nuclear-weapon State is one which has manufactured and exploded a nuclear weapon or other nuclear explosive device prior to January 1, 1967."

Article IX, paragraph 3 states: "... For the purposes of this Treaty, a nuclear-weapon State is one which has manufactured and exploded a nuclear weapon or other nuclear explosive device prior to January 1, 1967."
- What if a sixth state signed the treaty and at the same time prodcing evidence of having expoded a explosive device prior to January 1, 1967? And thus becomming a legitimate nuclear power!
- Would it have been possibel for a state to hide such an explotion prior to January 1, 1967?
