No Winter War- effect on Eastern Front

From what I've read, the embarassment the Red Army suffered in trying to defeat Finland (yes they won, but it took too long) led to reforms within the Red Army that probably aided in their ultimate victory in WWII. Now if there was no Winter War, then presumably there would be no reforms. How would this effect the Eastern Front? Would Moscow fall? Would Stalin be toppled? I think the Soviets would still win in the end through attrition, but it would be a much longer road with possibly the US Army being the ones to occupy Berlin, which may lead to a radically different post-war Europe.

Hitler might be bit unsure how strong Russia is. When Russians failed to conquer Finland, he thought that USSR is quiet weak country and he could begin conquer to the east soon. But without Winter War Hitler might delay Barbarossa. But it is possible that Stalin attacks firstly.

I always had the idea the continuation war actually caused the siege of Leningrad, and relieved pressure on Army group North. Without the Finns, the Germans could still surround it but it would be harder. Though it might take longer, no actual siegem ight mean they capture the city, which in turn means they won't send roops from Army Group Center to reinforce the North. That might speed up the attack on Moscow.

On the other hand there would be more Soviet troops from the North free to fight Army Groups North and Center. Not a whole lot as i'm sure they would leave plenty of troops at the border of Finland in case of an attack. If they expect one.

This is all from the top of my head of course. I could be totally wrong on the strength of Soviet forces in the north now faced with only Army Group North and no Finns. They might even hold them away from Leningrad. Plus they might not even expect an attack from the Finns and send all their troops away from its borders.

If he was unsure about the strength of a foe, the logical response would be to error on the conservative side and wait, build up forces, and perhaps attack a year later. I can't think of anyway for Barbarossa to be even bigger in 1941 than it already was. Who knows, maybe the uncertainty would be cause for winter clothing to be issued to the soldiers.

But, as we all know, logic is such a relative term and Hitler had a somewhat skewed perception of the world.

The logical response would have been to take care of Britain first, then go after the Soviet Union. Hitler's own racism defeated him. Maybe not his racism against Jews, but his racism against Slavs. In his mind Aryan "supermen" were more than a match for Slav "untermenschen".

Sigh. This is a myth. Winter clothing couldn't be issued to the troops because the rail lines into Russia, and the rail cars, had a limited capacity. The choice was between food, fuel, and ammunition, or giving up a good portion of that for clothing transport. The Heer correctly decided to focus on supplies necessary for fighting rather than clothing.

So why not issue the winter clothing to the troops BEFORE the invasion, and just tell them not to wear it until the winter?

Before Winter

Because they expected the USSR to be beaten before winter occurred.

The men had to march hundreds of kilometers; why burden them with heavy winter clothing and boots which won't be needed for months?
