No Varangian/Christian Greek Orthodox/ Mongol/Tatar influences on Russia

Nearly impossible. Russia was the crossroads of trade in the East, as it was on the way to major locations. You would almost have to put a wall around Russia in order to prevent such influences from entering in.

Aternate influences, which add potnetionally to Russian identety could be discussed too in this thread. Adyghe for example, the cossacks overtook their traditional clothing , if im not mistaken

It's impossible to trace, it was only under the Rurikids that you saw the unification of the area's that would be the Rus peoples, so you can't a Russia without Varangian influences. You could theoretically try and look at the common folk, considering I believe only ruling class had Varangian influences. Maybe you could have a Slavic faith reformation go through and butterfly the rest of the influences, but your not gonna see a recognizable Rus or Russia if you even see any of that happen at all.

There is always the Arabic Muslim idea, if the Khazars get the kibosh. A Muslim Russia would be interesting to see- that would certainly make Christendom feel surrounded.

The Khazars would be interesting as well. A Jewish Russian state would create even more butterflies than a Muslim one, I feel.

Would be interesting, how Adyghe/Circassians would react to a expansion of of a Muslim Russia if they are converted to Islam as late as OTL.

A Jewish Russian State would most likely have a small percentage of Jewish aristocracy but the poulations belief woud be diverse or Slavic pagan like Khazaria ? A Jewish Russia would be a great ally for Khazaria and could give the anti-jewish Byzantines some trouble. I could see Jews from Western Europe and the Orient migrating to that land. The linguistic influence would be interesting too.

If Russia (that is, lands in Eastern Europe populated by proto-Russians in the 9th century) was somehow totally isolated from the rest of the world from the 9th century on (say, ISoTed to a virgin Earth), we'd likely see many petty kingdoms and republics (like that of Novgorod) emerging all over Eurasia over millennia, with their peoples speaking fast diverging dialects of Old East Slavic, and then mutually unintelligible, but still fairly similar Slavic languages (after a few centuries).

They would likely still be Pagans even in Year 1,000 after the Event, and worship their gods in wooden temples with magnificent carved wood decorations, while their rulers would reside in similarly built and decorated wooden palaces. Some forms of writing (probably Runic in style) would survive and spread, albeit slowly, but there would be no mass literacy beyond larger cities even after a thousand years of independent development.

With abundant resources of a virgin Earth, there would be little use for fossil fuels, and thus steam engine would not be invented as early as OTL, if at all. Military technology would stagnate as well, with armour limited to nobles, and most warriors going into battle unprotected and using light spears and swords.
