No Turks in Anatolia - Where else?

I think it's also worth noting that the Turkish presence in Anatolia wasn't all that overpowering until the collapse of the Sultanate of Rum to the Mongols- that's when dozens of tiny statelets were formed by Turkish warlords and Imperial territory really started to get divided up. Before that, Rome controlled most of the coastlines and it was essentially a tug-of-war between the Turks and Romans in Anatolia, but after that, the armies of Rome, pre-occupied by Westerners in the Balkans, just couldn't handle the countless Turkish warlords invading their state.
