No television remotes

If the TV remote had either not been invented or never became standard how much difference would it make

1) to television with less channel surfing

2) To the level of frustration of people (Like me) who mislay such devices

A lot of buttons on every TV for every channel or digital tv earlier with a box were you put in the numbers you wanted.

I had a TV in my old boyroom when i lived at home. It didnt have any remote and i hade 10 channel options. That was in 1998. I learned to choose what i saw. I used a C64 on it as late as 1994

When we first got cable in the mid eighties we had a TV with 10 or so buttons and they sometimes got stuck between two channels.

Back in the old days of the 1970's, I use to sit close to the TV and Dad would call out, change the channel to ABC or CBS. Work for him.

There was no need to go to the gym to maintain physical fitness. Watching two channels through two movies equals jogging two miles.

1) More eye damage from sitting too close to the screen (so the buttons to change the channel on the TV box are within hands reach).

2) Remote controls connected by wire would be developed quickly (my grandfather had a TV with that once, it isn't complex tech).

This is a myth, I think. There really isn't anything in TV which destroys eyes. There were some problems with x-rays in 60's due to factory errors though.
