No Stroke for Joe Kennedy No Chap

What if Joe Senior, Didn't have his stroke?
So he will be able to protect EMK from Chapaquick.
Many have said, the old man cause have covered it up

Joe Sr. had his stroke in Sept. '61, eight years before his OTL death. I don't know what that would butterfly though. As Nixon said "too many journalists want the Pulitzer Prize." The news will still be revealed, and will destroy any chances he has for a successful WH bid.

Anna:
Your writing is excellent. I thank you for taking the time to respond to my little piece. Since EMK didn't have his brother's guts.
I wondered if the old man, could have been spared to bail him out one more time. The media has gotton more inquistive your quite right.
Nice to see a vietnam survival, that's one of my doctoral topics.
Le Chief has also been a source of amusement, do to his corprotist ideas.

Ah, Maurice. Somewhat resembling Imelda's husband in ideology and other ways. My favorite line of his, which he will tell Bobby in the revised Can-Ken: "Sir, this might be illegal."- Murdochville strike '57 IOTL. Response: "Je suis le procureur general, si je le dis, c'est legale!"
Translation: "I'm the Attorney General, if I say it's legal, it is!"

I think Joe Sr. not having a stroke would have implications for Jack's Presidency long before chappaquidick ever happens.

How could he affect his presidency? Most of the stuff would not be earth-shattering like Monica was ten years ago. Depends if both JFK and RFK are killed though. Factors such as when LBJ withdraws, Vietnam, CR, a whole bunch of other things not relating to Joe. Now what are you referring to about EMK? The "Kennedy Checkers" speech or something else? Which brother, which issue?

All I meant was that even as late as his stroke he still had considerable influence on Jack and the rest of the family, and a world where Joe Sr didn't have a stroke, probably means Jack's still going to his father for advice, or getting orders from him, which means the Kennedy Administration will be at least slightly different, which could have serious butterflies. But I'm no expert on the Kennedy's so I'm not entirely sure what those changes will be.

I don't see much changing, because he was almost never at the WH IOTL, and both brothers didn't really want him interfering. RFK was his deputy, and sometimes used executive authority in JFK's name when he was ill or things arose. One thing Joe could've prevented was the Manchester book scandal- relatively minor, but cost Bobby fifteen points in popularity, the lead over Johnson for the '68 nomination (those polls were published beginning in mid '66) and the polarity numbers, which then were as bad or worse than the SecState. Only for a few months though. As I said, it won't really affect the JFK Presidency.
