It's mind numbing, tedious, depressing, and a waste of good trees. Aside from excerpts, I'd avoiding reading it until a college course gave me something of a reason to do so.
The worst part of reading the damn thing is that he lays it all out it black and white for everyone to read. It's [all in there and no one paid any attention whatsoever.
As for a war between the WAllies and Soviets, it's possible and it could have happened quite by accident. However, as junaml82 wisely pointed out, it's not in the best interests of Britain, France, and the USSR to actually go to war with each other so all three governments will make excuses not to do so.
It's also going to be very hard for either side to get at each other and there won't be a lot of assets for the job.
