No Phoney War?

They were very lucky with the results of the war, many things could have happened that could have lead to their defeat.

America elects (anti war) Robert Taft and doesn't get involved
Germany defeats the BEF in Dunkirk and in the Battle of Britian, etc

Britain is invaded by flying pigs....

34 divisions on the Siegfriend line. It's one thing to have a 3-1 advantage in an open field, against a fortified line, it means nothing.

Indeed, it actually means less :) :)
Since the bulk of forttresss troops tend to be pretty immobile, you only need to worry about the ones you're attacking, plus the mobile reserve.
As hapenned to the Maginot line....

The Maginot line was only defeated after it was circled through Belgium.
Patton was bogged down for months trying to reduce the Maginot line, and he was attacking them from the rear, unsupplied, and barely manned.

Defeated?? And in just what way was it useful up to that point?
A fortress line can always be gone through.

It prevented the German army from launching a direct assault on French national territory from Germany? Given its purpose and relative cost, the Maginot Line was not a bad investment

A fortress line cannot always be gone through or around... tell that to the 10's of thousands of allied soldiers who where killed or wounded assaulting the Gustav line
