No Olympic Boycotts In '76,'80 and 1984.

It might have been a WIKI inaccuracy, but that 'authority' stated London. In it's London 1948 olympics entry.Though I seem to remember Tokyo cropping up also, maybe one was for 1944.

To the Wikinet!

The 1940 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XII Olympiad and originally scheduled to be held from 21 September to 6 October 1940, in Tokyo, Japan, were cancelled due to the outbreak of World War II. Tokyo was stripped of its host status for the Games by the IOC after the renunciation by the Japanese of the IOC's Cairo Conference of 1938, due to the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War. The government of Japan had abandoned its support for the 1940 Games in July 1938.[1] The IOC then awarded the Games to Helsinki, Finland, the runner-up in the original bidding process. The Games were then scheduled to be staged from July 20 to August 4, 1940. The Olympic Games were suspended indefinitely following the outbreak of World War II and did not resume until the London Games of 1948.

Helsinki would have been very ready for the 1940 Olympics had they been held. Even the outbreak of WWII or the Winter War were not at first considered reasons to stop the preparations for the games. The work on the Olympic Village etc. were officially cancelled as late as April 1940. Much of the same infrastructure, stadiums and sites were then used for the 1952 games.

One though to ponder is that in 1980 the two candidates for host city were Moscow and LA.

What if LA got the 80 games instead of 84 ?
