So last night I was watching an old episode of "Sliders". The premise of the episode was that there was an asteroid coming to destroy the earth and this particular earth was helpless because Enstein had lied to FDR and told hm that there wasn't enough fissionable material in the world to create a nuclear weapon, therefore nukes were never invented by anyone. Putting aside the fact that this was simply believed, it got me thinking about what the second half of the 20th century and more directly the cold war, would have looked like without Nuclear weapons or technology? How long would WW2 have lasted? How would the US-USSR relate? Could nato stop the soviets with conventional forces if the Soviets decided to roll through eastern europe? Many questions. Thoughts?
