No nuclear weapons

What would happen if nuclear power was not discoverd in WW2 and for a long time afterward I know that someone will find it eventually, but how would the United states not having nuclear weapons in the 40s, 50s and possibly 60s change the world, obviously they are going to have to invade Japan the old fashioned way but how would it change the US/USSR relationship

A conventional World War III between US and its allies versus Stalin's Soviet Union plus it's allies no later than 1953. The SU makes it to the English Channel, is stopped there and is gradually driven back to the Vistula line before both sides sign a peace of exhaustion. Probably a more tragic TL than the one we live in. Mao's China winds up with Japan, Korea and much of SE Asia

Still rather tense, since the US is going to have to maintain rather larger conventional forces in Europe to deter the USSR and the Soviets are likely to be more agressive in "secondary" theatres such as the middle east, etc. without the fear of nuclear attack. OTOH, I don't see WWIII as very likely, at least for a couple decades: the Soviets have taken a horrible beating in WWII, and both Stalin and Kruschev were quite conscious of the industrial superiority of the US.

Said WWIII would probably see the development of nuclear weapons, and then probably become a nuking spree. Manhattan becoming a fruitless project is not impossible and post war exhaustion could well allow the Cold War not to reopen the issue, but when the Third War Starts, Nuclear Tech is going to be reopened--and advances in computer design will change the score.

Tragedy doesn't begin to describe this situation.

No Nukes means Operation Downfall. While the war goes on the US pulls more troops out of Europe [fewer war brides].Fewer troops -less denazification.

Russia will also continue to pull front line troops out of East Europe, which means minor Butterflies in Russian take over there,

OTL The Korean N/S border was reached in Negotiations, Here where the Japanese are still fighting I wonder if the Negotiation would be the same.

The war continuing into 1946 means a lot more Lead Lease being sent to China.

It wasn't till late summer 1945 that the US agreed on a Commonwealth Force being included. and when the bombs were dropped, it was in California training.
I don't think the US would accept a Russian invasion of the Islands.

By Decembre when the invasion starts, whe will have had 90 extra days of Bombing, While it will be bloody, I doubt the Official estimates, Specially as they are in such disagreement with each other.

With the much greater damage, I expect to see even more Westernization. I would not be surprised if Japan adopts Roman Letters
However the Asian Dragons will be slower taking off.

With the US focused more in Asia, I see a sooner stronger SEATO.

Not so. The Soviet invasion of Manchuria did much more to coax the Japanese to surrender than the atomic bombs did, in fact. Of course, the A-bombs helped, but they weren't as decisive as you think.

The low levels of denazification OTL had more to do with desire to keep Germany running, not driving the locals into Soviet arms, and simply greater conservatism after Roosevelt's death than any lack of manpower. Denazification requires courts and investigators, not large numbers of troops.

If the Russians do all the liberating themselves in Korea, they may push for a deal in which they get all Korea in exchange for no involvement in Japan (they didn't get it OTL either, but there's something in "negotiating from a position of strength").

The war continuing into 1946 means a lot more Lead Lease being sent to China.

Perhaps averting a Communist win, or leading to a (termporarily) divided China?

I don't think the US would accept a Russian invasion of the Islands.

Unlikely to pull it off without US assistance anyway.

Why's it assumed that Soviet's were so powerful. Think about how much ground they had to control from Moscow to Berlin. Now, they decide to take on the United States, the United Kingdom, and whatever remnant of Germany the allies will prop up to fight the Red Menace. Superior allied bombing will provide close up support of allied troops. The soviet's could very well make massive gains but all the way through to France? Unlikely.
