no Nauvoo Expositor

the death of Mormon founder Joseph Smith, Jr. and his brother Hyrum and the expulsion of the Mormons from Illinois can be linked back to a anti-Mormon Newspaper the Nauvoo Expositor and the towns fight to shut it down. so what if William Law never had a falling out with Joseph Smith, Jr. and never starts the Nauvoo Expositor, and the Anti-mormon feeling isn't stirred up, Joseph Smith, Jr. and Hyrum Smith aren't killed, the Mormon's don't leave Nauvoo, Illinois and there's no Succession crisis

how does all this change, America, the LDS Church, Illinois, ect.

I think you're only postponing the flare-up. There were fundamental tensions between the Mormons and their neighbors; the Nauvoo Expositor incident was only a spark. I think either (1) the Mormons voluntarily leave, (2) you end up with low level civil war, or (3) the Mormons get forced out as in our timeline. Joseph Smith probably gets killed in #3 but its not a certainty. There are some indications that Joseph Smith had been thinking about going to the Great Basin before he died, but I don't know that he ever took the idea too seriously.
