No Miracle of Bern

The Miracle of Bern refers to the 1954 FIFA World Cup final, where the West German team defeated the widely favorited Hungarians 3-2 to win Germany's first World Cup title. The match is influential for a number of reasons. The ceremony after the match marked the first time the German national anthem was played in public after WWII and the euphoria it gave West Germany probably significantly helped the post-war recovery. For Hungary, the Magical Magyars had finally been beaten and two years later after the Hungarian Revolution was crushed and several of the Hungarian players defected to the West in the years following.

If the match had gone the other way, would there have been a large effect on the history of those two countries? Could the euphoria following Hungary raising a World Cup trophy have lasted long enough or done enough to influence the causes of the Hungarian Revolution or its outcome? Without the boost to the morale of the West German people, would it still have recovered as well as it did? I'm probably overestimating the effects of societal mood on history, but it certainly has some effect on a people's historical path.
