Mary Ann Evans (1819-1880) was an English novelist.
She wrote The Mill on the Floss and Silas Marner.
She used the pen name of George Eliot.
Suppose Mary Ann Evans writes as Mary Ann Evans. Would her books sell very well?
 
Mary Ann Evans's first story, "The Sad Fortunes of the Reverend Amos Barton", appeared in Blackwood's Magazine in January 1857.
It was followed by two other stories in the same year.
The three stories were collected in book form as Scenes from Clerical Life (1858).
Mary Ann signed herself George Eliot. She kept her true identity secret for many years.
