No Longer Jack

I hope crazy-JFK, being a big James Bond fan, invites Ian Fleming to the White House and scares him half to death with his grandiloquent lunacy. :D

This timeline's coming to an end? No way. FOUR MORE YEARS. FOUR MORE YEARS.
We've got most of the stuff already written, it's just filling the holes now.
One of which is the State of the Union, and I'm not satisfied with it yet. So the next update will be tomorrow.

Thanks for all the voting! :D

Also, forgot to give credit where credit is due. Thanks to 037771 for giving Plumber and I the idea for the Guyana storyline! :)

My pleasure :)

I'm quite excited now to see how you've decided to use it!
Your research in other areas has been a great help as well. :) Oh, and freel free to answer this in a PM if you prefer, but how comfortable are you with us citing your work more directly (with AH changes)? I don't want to get into any plagiarism nonsense or anything, particularly because I'm not sure how these things work between the UK and the US, either.

I'm still a hospital outpatient. The update yesterday was shorter than anticipated because I had to go into the hospital for routine outpatient treatment and I ended up staying longer than normal due to a paperwork mixup. I haven't been feeling my best today, which isn't so unexpected the day after my weekly hospital visit. So work on the next update has been slower than expected. I'll probably be feeling a lot better tomorrow, though I do have other engagements that could push the update further. And by further, I mean Saturday. Yep, this is definitely a Timeline In A Few (Non-Consecutive) Days (good one, Brainbin! :D), so watch this space.

It'll never happen but I really want to see Brezhnev and crazy JFK have a debate about the merits of striking China to prevent them from getting nukes.

Hmmm....

My one critique of the timeline: At some point, JFK says "The fucK", whereas I feel he would say "What the fuck", as the former is a very recent, modern truncation of that.

I do hope "No longer" becomes a trope, where various PODs are built around people getting brain damage and things going off from there.

Okay, just found this and it's awesome. Can't wait for more.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Who else could this storyline work with? Lincoln? Gandhi? MLK?

This timeline's coming to an end? No way. FOUR MORE YEARS. FOUR MORE YEARS.

Also agreed. I definitely think this idea has more to it than just a year or so. The aftereffects of this are gonna be felt for a long, long time.

I'd like to see "No Longers" of George Washington, Lincoln, Both Roosevelts, and hell even Ronald Reagan...

they all have a lot of potential...

The benefit of this type of scenario is that it permits anything to be done without worrying about what the person would do, because they are no longer that personality for a legitimate reason. So it opens up creative freedom, it opens up humor and anarchy, and you can get away with stuff that people would call ASB on for the reason that who they were or other bits of sanity would not permit it.

Pre-1900 individuals would be interesting because it'd be like an insane Roman Emperor. Especially Washington or Lincoln; think of Lincoln decimating the Confederacy with malice, destroying political adversaries and cultivating power as a dictator (borderline or outright), creating a massive military build up and taking on all comers, and maybe invading Mexico or Canada or going nuts and bombarding British ports, maybe making former slave holders into borderline slave laborers themselves, and the list goes on. The evolution of the United States from a looser federation to a comprehensive nation could be made to be one where that takes on all the horrific connotations people did or could have feared about that.

Well, this has been a lot longer than a few days...

I've mostly been away from the board for a long time now, but I did a cursory search of the board recently and was surprised to see how much some people enjoyed the conceit behind this story, and wanted to apply it to other contexts. Here's a thread suggesting the same thing happen to Franklin Roosevelt.

I've talked with @Plumber and, while we're both probably too busy for a proper revival of the timeline, once we get some stuff together we thought it would be fun to provide a rough sketch on our planned outline for the story to the present. That is, the geopolitical situation, wars, the fates of various important players in American and international politics, the trajectory of various social movements and societal trends, the state of pop culture - those sorts of things. So, keep an eye out for that.
