In 1816 King Ferdinand of Naples and Sicily united the two Kingdoms into the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, which in practice meant suppressing the autonomy the Kingdom of Sicily had enjoyed until then, as well as the 1821 Sicilian Constitution.
So, what if instead he died before then, leading to to his more weak-willed so Francis becoming king earlier? Would he have kept the Kingdoms separate but in a personal union? Would he have kept the Sicilian Constitution? How would this have influenced the Italian Unification ?
