George W. Bush is still president, but for some reason or another, is not able to build support for war and the vast majority of Americans do not believe that Saddam had anything to do with 9/11. Perhaps the Press actually does its job.

What happens in Afghanistan and the War on Terror without the invasion of Iraq? Does the Muslim world view the US in a better light? How do the Europeans feel? What about the US economy?

Bush IMO is likely to be viewed in a more favorable light, especially as the debt doesn't rise nearly as quickly. However, the banking situation still happens and by 2008 the economy has tanked. But without the war opposition, Barack Obama is not a viable candidate as he never had a chance to make a name by opposing the war, and cannot slam Hillary over it. Perhaps Clinton II in 2009?
